The End of Water Spots.
Professional-grade deionized water that eliminates mineral deposits, dries streak-free without toweling, and protects every surface it touches.
What Sets DI Water Apart
Tap water is loaded with dissolved minerals that leave behind stubborn white spots when it evaporates. Deionized water changes everything.
Spot-Free Finish
Zero dissolved minerals means zero residue. DI water evaporates completely clean — no spots, no streaks, no towel drying required.
Active Cleaning Power
Ultra-pure DI water naturally seeks equilibrium, actively drawing embedded dirt and mineral deposits from paint, glass, and chrome at the molecular level.
Built for Professionals
Industrial-strength housings with high-flow ports, pressure relief valves, and quick-change cartridges engineered for daily commercial use.
"You spend hours perfecting the detail — your rinse water should match that standard."
Tap water contains calcium, magnesium, iron, and dozens of other dissolved minerals. The moment it evaporates from your paint, those minerals are left behind as stubborn white spots that etch into your finish over time. Crystal Quest DI systems remove 100%* of those minerals before they ever reach your vehicle.
How DI Water Filtration Works
Our systems use mixed-bed ion exchange resin to strip every dissolved mineral from your water. No electricity, no waste water, no complicated setup.
Water Enters
Tap water with dissolved minerals flows into the system under normal hose pressure. No pump or electricity needed.
Ion Exchange
Mixed-bed resin captures dissolved solids — calcium, magnesium, iron, and more — and exchanges them for pure H⁺ and OH⁻ ions that recombine as water.
0 TDS Out
Laboratory-grade pure water exits at 0 PPM TDS*. Rinse your vehicle and let it air dry — no spots, no streaks, no towel needed.
More Than Just Cars
Anywhere mineral deposits are a problem, DI water is the solution. Our systems are trusted by professionals across industries.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before upgrading your rinse water.
What is deionized water and how does it prevent spots?
Deionized (DI) water has had virtually all dissolved minerals removed through ion exchange resin. Water spots are caused by minerals like calcium and magnesium left behind when water evaporates. Since DI water contains no dissolved minerals, it evaporates completely clean — leaving zero spots, streaks, or residue on any surface.
Does DI water damage paint or clear coat?
No. DI water is safe for all automotive surfaces including paint, clear coat, chrome, glass, and vinyl wraps. Because it contains no dissolved minerals or chemicals, it is actually gentler on surfaces than regular tap water. DI water is the same grade of purified water used in pharmaceutical and electronics manufacturing.
How does DI compare to reverse osmosis for car washing?
Both produce pure water, but DI is far better suited for car washing. RO systems waste 2–4 gallons for every gallon produced, run at very low flow rates (under 1 GPM), and require electricity and a pressurized tank. DI systems produce water on demand at 2–6 GPM with zero waste water and no electricity. For portable, high-flow, on-demand spot-free rinsing, DI is the clear choice.
Can I use the system with my existing garden hose?
Yes. All systems include adapters to connect to standard garden hose fittings. Simply connect your water supply to the inlet, attach your rinse hose to the outlet, and you're ready to go. The system operates entirely on water pressure — no electricity required.
Do I need a pre-filter?
A carbon pre-filter is recommended if your water is chlorinated. Chlorine degrades DI resin over time, so removing it first extends cartridge life significantly. A sediment pre-filter is also helpful if your water contains visible particles. Crystal Quest offers compatible pre-filter housings and cartridges.
What else can I use the system for besides cars?
DI water is ideal for any application where spot-free results matter — boats and yachts, RVs, motorcycles, commercial window cleaning, solar panel maintenance, aircraft, and industrial equipment. Anywhere mineral deposits are a problem, DI water is the solution.
*TDS and removal performance claims assume typical municipal water conditions. Water with elevated levels of silica or dissolved carbon dioxide may reduce ion exchange resin efficiency and affect output TDS readings. Contact us for guidance on challenging water conditions.

Parts & Maintenance FAQ
How do I know when to replace the DI cartridge?
Use a TDS meter to monitor your output water. Fresh DI resin produces 0 PPM water. When your output TDS rises above 10 PPM, it's time to replace or refill the cartridge. Visual indicators include the resin changing from its original color to a uniform dark amber or brown.
Can I refill the cartridge with bulk resin instead of buying a new one?
Yes. If you prefer to refill rather than replace, our 1 cubic foot bulk mixed-bed DI resin (CQE-RM-05021) lets you repack your existing cartridge shells. This is the most cost-effective option for high-volume users who go through resin quickly.
Does the same cartridge fit all three systems?
No. The Personal system uses the smaller 2 7/8" × 20" cartridge (CQE-RC-0501). The Professional and Professional MAX both use the larger 4 5/8" × 20" Big Blue cartridge (CQE-RC-0503). The MAX simply uses two of the Big Blue cartridges.
How long does a cartridge last?
Cartridge life is directly tied to your water's TDS level. At 200 PPM — roughly average for U.S. municipal water — the Personal cartridge handles about 180 gallons (36 vehicle rinses), the Professional handles about 360 gallons (72 rinses), and the Professional MAX handles about 720 gallons (144 rinses). Lower TDS water dramatically extends cartridge life.

| Leaking connections | Re-apply Teflon tape to threads; inspect and replace O-rings if worn |
| Pressure drop across housing | Gently shake or tap the housing to loosen compacted resin |
| Still getting spots | Verify TDS is below 10 PPM; check for soap residue on the vehicle |
| Cloudy water on first use | Normal — flush 2–5 minutes to clear loose resin fines |
Installation FAQ
Do I need any plumbing experience?
No. All systems ship with the cartridge pre-installed and include all adapters, fittings, and Teflon tape. If you can connect a garden hose, you can set up this system. The optional pre-assembled stands mean you don't even need to mount anything — just set it down and connect your hoses.
What type of water source connection do I need?
All systems include adapters for standard garden hose connections. The native port size is 1" NPT (Professional and MAX) or 1" (Personal), but the included adapters make them compatible with standard 3/4" garden hose fittings found on any outdoor spigot.
Can I leave the system outdoors?
The system can be used outdoors, but it should be protected from direct sunlight when not in use (UV degrades plastics over time) and must be brought inside or drained if temperatures drop below freezing. Frozen water inside the housing can crack the vessel.
How do I replace the cartridge?
Turn off the water supply and release pressure using the pressure relief button on the housing cap. Use the included housing wrench to unscrew the sump (bottom half). Remove the old cartridge, drop in the new one, and screw the sump back on. Flush 2–5 minutes before use. The whole process takes about 10 minutes.

Specifications FAQ
What does "TDS" mean and why does it matter?
TDS stands for Total Dissolved Solids — the combined measurement of all minerals, salts, and metals dissolved in your water, measured in parts per million (PPM). Higher TDS means more minerals that cause water spots, and more work for your DI resin to remove. Knowing your water's TDS helps you predict cartridge life and choose the right system size.
What ions does mixed-bed DI resin remove?
Mixed-bed DI resin effectively removes all common dissolved ions including calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, iron, copper, manganese, chlorides, sulfates, nitrates, bicarbonates, phosphates, and ammonia. It also reduces silica, though silica removal efficiency can vary depending on concentration and water chemistry.
Why does the system not need electricity?
DI filtration is a passive ion exchange process — the resin beads swap dissolved minerals for hydrogen and hydroxide ions as water passes through under normal water pressure. There are no pumps, no UV lamps, and no electronic controls. Just connect to any pressurized water source (garden hose, spigot, pressure washer bypass) and the system works.
What happens if my input water exceeds 1,000 PPM?
The system will still function, but the resin will be exhausted very quickly, making it impractical and expensive. For water above 1,000 PPM, we recommend a reverse osmosis pre-treatment stage to bring TDS down before the DI polish. Contact our team at 1-800-934-0051 for a custom solution.
Which System Is Right for You?
All three use the same premium mixed-bed DI resin and produce identical water quality. The difference is capacity and throughput.
