This internal lock washer is used to prevent a nut or bolt head from loosening and to absorb shock and vibration. They have teeth that extend inward and bite into the bearing surface, preventing the nut or bolt head from loosening. They are installed between the bolt head or nut and the mating surface. (ILW516)
