The 1986-S proof quarter represents a significant year in U.S. coinage, struck at the San Francisco Mint during a period of renewed numismatic interest. This brilliant uncirculated specimen showcases the classic Washington obverse and eagle reverse with exceptional detail and mirror-like fields characteristic of San Francisco proof production. The "S" mintmark denotes its origin and adds to its collectibility among serious numismatists. Well-preserved examples from this vintage are sought after for type sets and date-run collections, particularly those maintaining original mint luster and sharp strike definition. A solid addition for collectors focused on modern U.S. proof coinage.
